V.Subramanian, Chennai

The worst neglected lot are those retired from CPSEs 10 years and more back and who are near 70 years and plus and who do not get any pension or ex-gratia. Since interest rates have come down their income have come down from 90s level but cost of living has gone up. The strong foundation laid by them and their hard work in the initial stages of the PSEs when they had minimum facilities or no infrastructure for work or life have contributed definitely in a small way for sustained success and profit of these PSEs. Yet the PSEs have not taken any action on the recommendations of 2nd Pay Revision Commission for PSEs and DPE who have recommended allocating 1 to 1.5% of PBT for medical, pension benefit by creating a corpus fund. What we, the retirees, want is a small mercy in the form of monthly ex-gratia as a relief. This is not a burden on the exchequer but from profit of the PSEs. I humbly request FM to kindly give direction to PSEs to follow the recommendations in spirit and help the left out lot who are in final phase of life and to give tax relief to PSEs (as an incentive) on the amount so allocated by them for the benefit of those retired.
