The Finance Minister has to take into consideration the plight of vulnerable sections like the Senior Citizens, the pensioners and salaried people with low income in the context of the current inflationary situation. The FM has also to take a compelling look at the phenomenon of the climate change and apply his wisdom to do something to encourage the people to adopt suitable measures to reduce emissions.

A few suggestions:-

The Pensioners' no-tax slab should be raised to Rs 6 lakhs and a medical relief at the rate of 25% of cost of medicines and cost health care provided. For those with income below Rs one lakh pa, medical care be made free by arrangements with hospitals.

Pension relief should be made double of the DA releif given half yearly to serving staff.

The spouse of deceassed pensioner be made eligible for full pension for two years after the demise of the pensionerFor serving personal: The no-Tax slab should be raised by 100% of the present level and tax exemption given for medical expenses.

Children’s education expenses should be tax-exempted totally for two children.

Compulsive social commitments be given a % of tax relief.

General: A boost to infrastructure expenditure, a committee to examine steps by general people to reduce emissions and appropriate tax reliefs for people for steps to reduce emissions etc desirable. Realtors should be discouraged from escalating land cost by appropriate measures.
