Promoting economic welfare

The Union government must prepare the budget in such a way that the people (poor, in particular) are left with more real income (which means, goods and services), which is indispensable for their welfare.  This necessitates the need for the government to have an exhaustive list of commodities of mass consumption and ensure their availability in the market at nominal prices and at all times.

Lessening or exempting the excise duty (or any indirect tax) on these goods, facilitating more imports (if need be) and encouraging new businesses can go a long way in promoting the economic welfare of the people.
