Dr. Avinash – CEO Nanjappa Life care

Human capital lost because of healthcare issues especially in rural India is very high. A lot man days and lives are lost due to good quality healthcare being either inaccessible or unaffordable. There is not enough attention paid to this loss in human capital. It will therefore help to have an NRHGA (National Rural Health Guarantee Act) on the lines of the NREGA. The cost on the scheme will be more than compensated by the productive lives saved and man days salvaged. Import duty on healthcare equipment to be zero – because in many critical areas, equipment manufactured domestically is not of the same quality as what is available abroad and can affect the quality of healthcare deliverySubsidise / incentives for setting up of telemedicine infrastructure to take good quality healthcare to hitherto inaccessible areas.Subsidise / incentives for setting up of small hospitals / primary health centres by private players in rural / semi-urban areas. Rural Healthcare is too important to be left just to the devices of the government machinery!
