Subject: My dream budget 2010: congress ka haath aam aadmi ke saath?!
MY DREAM BUDGET 2010: POCKET FRIENDLY Budget, in its simplest sense, refers to a statement of government revenue and expenditure.
My dream budget for 2010 would be the one which lays the foundation of GREEN REVOLUTION II, thus offering a solution to the problem of food security and food price inflation. Achieving 10% GDP growth rate can not satisfy the hunger of millions! On the expenditure side: In the face of severe drought which adversely affected the agricultural output in 2009 the finance Minister must divert more funds to the priority sector like agriculture. Agriculture infrastructure [irrigation projects] needs more attention lest the problem of food security gets worse. On the revenue side, the budget should focus on the progressive taxes more than the In-direct regressive taxes which put more burden on the poor and also generate sufficient revenue for the government. Taking into account the growing budget deficit and other constraints, the FM must set some achievable targets instead of making unkeepable promises. Amid hyper-inflation and unfavorable global environment, the gap between dreams and reality seems to be widening yet I hope the budget 2010 won’t disappoint me.
